Hudson grew up as a mill town on the Assabet River, home to as many as 17 shoe factories at its peak, and after a fire leveled much of downtown in 1894 the town rebuilt with many of the Victorian-era homes and Queen Anne mansions you still see today. That mix of worker housing and larger Victorians gives Hudson’s neighborhoods real character.
